“A zombie virus turns a zoo full of animals undead and bloodthirsty. If they escape the zoo, the whole city will be in danger.”
Director: Glenn Miller
Starring: Ione Butler, Andrew Asper, and Marcus Anderson
Why you need to watch it:
In case you didn’t catch it written above, a zombie virus turns a zoo full of animals into undead bloodthirsty zombie fiends!
Zoombies is produced by The Asylum production company and that should give you a pretty good heads up as to what the movie is going to be like. This is the same team that brought us Sharknado. Indeed, this movie is done in classic Asylum style and possesses many of the elements required to become a kitsch classic.
Of course the movie has cheesy CGI and low quality visual effects, but this only enhances the fun reckless vibe that carries throughout the movie. Zoombies achieves and displays its B movie prowess perfectly. I mean take a look at that gorilla costume!
There is nothing about this movie that tries to hide the low budget quality of the production, and this makes the movie fun.
The movie unfolds as a horror movie is expected to unfold, and the dialogue pushes the plot forward without being too over the top. There are a few lines of dialogue that were a bit ridiculous, but you should already be expecting that sitting down with a B horror movie.
If you decide to spend some time with Zoombies, you are in for some good entertainment and certainly some excellent laughs! Enjoy the Jurassic Park meets 28 Days Later kitsch!
